new improved dining room

i knew the thrift store would cough up something that would make my dining room complete:

i love this tablecloth. it goes perfectly with the whole thing. ::sigh::
it was a little too big so i had to trim and hem it. ::good things come to those who wait::

i finally found a home for these globes. i tried to think of a good feng shui place despite my utter ignorance. i did. but i realized that what i really wanted was to be able to see them as much as possible. so i decided to put them in my den, over the place where i usually sit when i'm craftin' and watchin' the toob:

last weekend we (i) bought a new rug for the den because the old one was crapola. this necessitated a change in the footstools. we (i) got them both at the thrift store for $5 each. they're obviously from someone's 70's wood paneled basement. one is harvest orange vinyl and the other is goldenrod vinyl. i liked the original vinyl but we moved my loverly green couch into the den and with the rug everything was kinda clashy. i found the green fabric at the thrift store and had JUST enough to slipcover one:

see mr. footstool's naked twin beside him? nice and retro but my den is retro no mo'.
so i did the one in the nice green fabric monday. i searched all week through my stash for some cute fabric to cover the orange one but to no avail. friday, however, we went to the thrift store and found the PERFECT gold/yellow fabric to go on the other. i sewed the slipcover saturday so now we have two classy footstools to match our classy new sisal rug and my loverly green couch!
