my weekend LAST weekend: the wedding
so the wedding that the pillows from this post were for was last weekend. it was nice, if a little hot. i wasn't pleased to have to sit in direct sunlight the whole time. this pale white girl burns so easily. :(
anyway, it ended before i got burned so i was able to happily run to the shade.
in the weeks leading up to the wedding my outfit had been causing me much consternation. i wanted to wear something unique so i tried to make a dress from one of those patterns that come in an envelope? the ones everybody uses?
well, guess what?
I FUCKING HATE THOSE PATTERNS!!!
i got halfway through the dress and discovered that it was fucking ugly as shit and to proceed was USELESS. i am so so so glad that i didn't buy any special fabric to make the dress or else i would have been doubly pissed. gah. i cannot stand the way the markings are on those patterns. i hate cutting them out, i hate marking them and i hate how they make things fourteen times harder in their instructions. i am never ever using another pattern if i can help it. i've only made one successful thing from a pattern and that was in middle school in home ec!! gar!!!!
anyway. i decided that i was just going to make a freaking dress the sunday before the wedding. i wanted a wrap dress. i had some fabric that cost about $3 for about 4 yards at the thrift store. i figured if i fucked it up i would be out 3 bucks at the most. fft.
so i started cutting and bam--check it out:
anyhoo--i'm quite proud of my dress. i got loads of compliments on it at the wedding.
oh, and as a followup to the pillows--the couple ADORED the pillows. i mean they both almost wept when they opened the package. they freaked the hell out! they called and thanked my b.f. twice and then called me. the bride said that it was by far their favorite gift of all the ones they got. so--woot!
